Miranda McKeon's Cancer Hacks
Cancer Hack #1
Find your community! I learned through having cancer that different people have different purposes. Some people thrive at listening, some thrive at giving advice, some thrive at going for a walk and chatting about something distracting. Lean on your people and know that they are there for you to let it all out. After having cancer, I actually created a whole card game dedicated to creating deep and meaningful conversations. It’s called Fill Your Tank. (@fillyourtankco)
Cancer Hack #2
Find your outlet. Whether it’s journaling, talking to a friend, therapy, or even talking to yourself in the mirror every morning – finding a place to release all of the messiness that is going on in your brain is so helpful. I especially love journaling and making lists to see things physically manifested in front of me and it made my emotions so much easier to break down and approach.
Cancer Hack #3
Stay busy and rest hard. Staying busy was how I stayed happy through treatment and afterwards. I made sure to have lots of non-cancer related things going on in my life so that I maintained a sense of normalcy and purpose. With that said, it’s incredibly important to rest and listen to your body and know that, rest is a form of self-care that is not selfish and is entirely necessary! Find a good show and get comfortable resting up!
